Nothing, it seems, can go wrong for the world’s top golfer.
Yesterday we showed you a Vine of Rory McIlroy embracing a spectator after a wayward tee shot on the 14th at the Tour Championship landed in the fan’s pocket after bouncing off a tree.
The world number got a free drop and went on to make par on the hole, as he finished his round just two shots behind leader Billy Horschel at the top of the leaderboard.
A full video of the incident has now emerged, with McIlroy saying afterwards: “That ball could have hit the tree and gone anywhere. I felt fortunate. I was able to take a free drop there and made par. I probably owe that guy more than a handshake.”
