The Welsh winger was the hero of the day at the Millennium Stadium, scoring two tries as the home side blew away the English challenge to win the Championship, but will now face an anxious six week spell on the sidelines after the Cardiff Blues revealed he suffered a grade-two tear in the win.

“Alex suffered a grade two hamstring strain in the first 30 minutes of the match against England. He is expected to be out for between four to six weeks,” read a statement released by the Blues.

It didn’t seem to affect him – as the English defence would testify to – as he put in another masterful performance that seemed to cement his place in the squad and probably a starting Test position.

The 22 year-old will now be short of match practice ahead of the first game against the Barbarians on June 1st in Hong Kong, but we would fully expect him to make Warren Gatland’s touring party.
