An Italian, and Roma, legend, it was on this day in 1993 that a 16-year-old Francesco Totti made his first appearance for the Giallorossi. It deserves a special video.
It is hard to believe that Francesco Totti has been on the go for 20 years. Like Ryan Giggs and Steven Gerrard he has remained a one-club man despite big offers from other teams and his standing as the grand old man of Italian football is now secure. Still only 36, we hope that the great man has many more years left and that he might, just, be able to catch Silvio Piola at the top of the all-time Serie A scorers chart.
Piola notched 274. Totti is in second place on 226. Of those goals, a kindly soul named David Peradze has compiled the 20 best on YouTube.
Long-range drives, cheeky chips and many, many great free-kicks, this is a wonderful tribute to a wonderful player.
