There are fewer things more vile on a sports field than spitting on an opponent and Peter Stringer was unfortunately the victim of that disgusting act at the hands of Stade Francais’ Jerome Fillol today.
Stringer is currently on loan at Aviva Premiership side Bath, who were in action against Stade Francais in the quarter-final of the Amlin Challenge Cup this afternoon.
While his opposite number, Jerome Fillol, ended up on the winning side, if justice is done he will soon be on the end of a lengthy ban after he spat on the former Irish international during the course of the game, an incident that was missed by the officials but was caught by the Sky cameras who were covering the game live.

Stringer showed remarkable calm not to react in a more forceful manner than he did, but like we said hopefully Fillol gets his comeuppance because there is no place for that on a rugby pitch, in any sport, or indeed any walk of life.
Thanks to Ben Coles for providing us with the footage
