UFC star Chang Sung Jung (13-4) better known as the ‘Korean Zombie’ will not be appearing in the Octagon for quite some time after being ordered to complete his mandatory two year military service in South Korea.
The 27-year-old MMA star, who was mentioned as being a possible next opponent for Conor McGregor if the Dubliner didn’t get a title shot, will begin his service next week and therefore will not compete in the UFC for the next two years while he completes his service.
Chang Sung Jung has not fought since his title fight loss to Jose Aldo at UFC 163 last August so, in all, he will be more than three years out of the Octagon as he will not be allowed compete during his military service.
The news will be a bitter blow to UFC fans who have taken him into their hearts with his attractive come-forward fighting style as well as his ability eat punches and indeed land quite a few in the process.
Injury has plagued the featherweight over the last couple of years but there is some good news on that front. Due to his many injuries he will be completing his service in an office and will therefore have time to train and remain in good shape to return to the UFC when he finishes his time in the military.
We know all you UFC fans are devastated and why wouldn’t you be? Just look at his highlight video below and try not to think too much about how long it will be before you see this man in action again…
