Matt Berry is a comedy genius and he’s proved it time and time again on shows like The IT Crowd, The Mighty Boosh and Garth Merenghi’s Darkplace. Berry’s brilliance was taken to the next level when he played the lead role in Toast of London last year and we here in JOE were obsessed with the show.
Berry plays Steven Toast who’s a failed actor struggling along by playing terrible stage and film roles as well as doing some voiceover work to pay the bills. It’s all very awkward but so clever and funny.
The show returns for a second series next Monday on Channel 4 and this preview clip of Toast in the studio with Clem Fandango, Danny and “Boris Johnson” got us right in the LOLs.
That clip from Shortlist has whetted our appetites and the only thing we’re hoping to see is a lot more of Toast’s arch nemesis Ray Purchase, that guy is amazing.
The show has so much potential, let’s hope they get it right this time around.
