There are some strong contenders on the list…

The Bord Gais Energy Sports Book of the Year nominees have been confirmed today and the quality of the publications in the running is very impressive.

The two books that have been dominating the headlines in the last few weeks, Brian O’Driscoll’s The Test and Roy Keane’s The Second Half, are predictably on the list.

Also on the list are Anthony Daly’s autobiography, former Irish international Alan McLoughlin’s, Damian Lawlor’s Field of Fire which looks at the hurling renaissance in the last few years and Emma O’Reilly’s book about blowing the whistle on Lance Armstrong and doping in cycling.

Here’s the shortlist:

The Test by Brian O’Driscoll (Penguin Ireland)

The Second Half by Roy Keane with Roddy Doyle (Orion)

Dalo: The Autobiography of Anthony Daly by Anthony Daly (Transworld Ireland)

A Different Shade of Green by Alan McLoughlin (Ballpoint Press)

Fields of Fire by Damian Lawlor (Transworld Ireland)

The Race to Truth by Emma O’Reilly (Bantam)

The winner will be announced on Wednesday November 26.
