The panenka penalty is one of the skills in football that’s left to the greats.
That style of spot-kick is for the likes of Andrea Pirlo, Francesco Totti, Zinedine Zidane and Thierry Henry and not mere mortals like us.
However, somebody forget to tell Galway native Paddy McTigue that because he pulled off the deft skill on Saturday morning for NUIG’s second team.
We’ve been told that Paddy was out drowning his sorrows after Ireland’s defeat to Scotland on Friday night but he managed to drag himself out of the bed on Saturday and we’re bloody glad he did.
Three things to look out for; the skill by young McTigue, the laugh after the ball goes in and the pissed off head on the goalkeeper.
Classic, well played Paddy.
