Money on my mind, money on my mind…
There are over 50 million people using Spotify now and we’re big fans here in JOE because it saves on storage space and it runs so smoothly.
It’s great for the user but what about the artists who put their music up there, ever wonder what they’re getting out of it?
Time have done a bit of research and compiled a list of what the most streamed songs on Spotify actually earn the recording artists.
They used Spotify’s stated payout of €0.0048 to €0.0067 per stream, which seems pretty paltry, to work out the final amount.
Here are the top 10 songs and the least amount of money they earned through Spotify streams:
1. Calvin Harris – Summer [€957,000]
2. Katy Perry – Dark Horse [€957,000]
3. John Legend – All Of Me [€957,000]
4. Mr. Probz – Waves [€877,000]
5. One Republic – Counting Stars [€797,000]
6. Ariana Grande – Problem [€789,000]
7. Pitbull – Timber [€765,000]
8. MAGIC! – Rude [€742,000]
9. Iggy Azalea – Fancy [€734,000]
10. Nico & Vinz – Am I Wrong [€726,000]
Where’s that guitar of ours? We’ve got some money to make…
Hat-tip to Time.
