The fact that Oxegen would once again take place in the summer has been one of the worst kept secrets in the music industry in recent weeks, but now we know for sure that’s it back.

Thanks to various rumours on the grapevine and a picture of an application for a license to host an event in Punchestown that we featured on the site earlier this week, we pretty much knew that Oxegen was certain to return after a one-year hiatus and it was confirmed on the Oxegen website this morning that it will take place on the August Bank Holiday Weekend, August 2-5.

We won’t yet know who will be playing the festival until Monday morning, but the organisers have promised a ‘stellar’ line-up and they usually come up with the goods as far as big acts are concerned so we are expecting more of the same this time around.

Tickets for the event will go on sale on Friday morning and those of you planning on heading to the Kildare venue can avail of an offer of a €75 reduction in ticket prices for 24 hours, from 8am on Friday 26 April until 8am the following day from Ticketmaster outlets or on line at Ticketmaster.ie.

A three-day weekend camping ticket will set you back €149.50 (inclusive of booking fee) while a two-day weekend, non-camping ticket costs €129.50 (also inclusive of booking fee).

The total capacity is down to 50,000 from the 80,000 that often packed into the Kildare venue and since it had a year off last year, demand for tickets is bound to be high so you might want to get in and get your tickets good and early to avoid disappointment.
