This game may not decide the title, but it will definitely get the blood flowing.
Both sides have struggled in recent times, with Manchester United barely getting above mid-table last year and Liverpool struggling to find any sort of momentum this term.
United seem to have turned a corner, winning their last five games in the league.
That is not to say that they are playing perfect football. Their defence has been comical at times, but they’re still winning, which is a sure sign of a team on the rise.
Liverpool’s season is a different story. They crashed out of the Champions League after defeat to Swiss side Basel on Tuesday. This was after winning only one game out of six in the tournament.
Their league form has been poor as well. This is largely down to a lack of firepower after the sale of Luis Suarez during the summer.
Marion Balotelli could return but when he has played he has been hopeless.
This leaves Ricky Lambert as Liverpool’s only fit striker and although the former Southampton player is an excellent finisher, he lacks the pace to play Brendan Rogers’ preferred quick-tempo tactics effectively.
We just don’t think Liverpool have the players to take advantage of a poor United defence.
We’re backing Robin Van Persie to add to the two he got against Southampton by getting the first here. United lost by three goals to nil last season and we reckon they’ll reverse that scoreline here.
This scoreline is priced at 40/1.
