Skoda are giving you the chance to win the kind of prize you’d only see in Ireland

The good folk over at Skoda Ireland are giving you the chance to win a car, but it’s not just any awl car…

Now, we know what some of your are thinking: “What’s that, JOE? Skoda Ireland is giving me the chance to win a brand new car?”

Well, wait just a second there, JOE reader. Who said anything about it being a ‘new’ car?

That’s because it’s not a ‘new car’ at all. It is, in fact, a 2002 Clare-registered Skoda Octavia with over 800,000km on the clock… seriously.

So why are Skoda off loading giving the car away as a prize?

Well, it’s all to celebrate Skoda reaching 1 million sales this year, which is a pretty huge achievement. So they’re giving away their prized motor, including the bumps, scratches and general wear ‘n’ tear, to see if someone in Ireland can help the car reach the golden milestone of 1,000,000km.

There is (thankfully) a secondary prize of €1,000 in case the winner doesn’t want to be the one to reach the milestone in the 12-(nearly 13)-year-old Octavia. Sure why would you enter in the first place if you didn’t want to be the one to reach the milestone?
