“Go big or go extinct.” That’s the threatening tag-line from the latest footage of Pacific Rim.
By Eoghan Doherty
The newest clip from Guillermo Del Toro’s first directorial outing in five years is the most informative yet as we’re treated to some more background on what the heck these massive Kaiju aliens actually are.
We also learn more about the “pilot-to-pilot connection” as the two robot operators “mind-meld through memories.” Makes perfect sense, right? Interestingly, Mr Voiceover guy calls this process the “The Jaeger Program,” which is usually the name we use for our Saturday nights out.
Del Toro also treats us to a funky shot of his favourite Hellboy Ron Perlman, and fans of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia will be delighted to see Charlie Day make an appearance as the cool, science-y boffin with all the answers. He wears glasses so he obviously knows what he’s talking about.
Forget about all of that stuff though, because this footage is all about giant robots fighting giant aliens, of which there is loads thankfully.
And oh yeah, A ROBOT HITS AN ALIEN IN THE FACE WITH AN OIL TANKER SHIP. That got us pretty excited.
Enjoy:
Pacific Rim will be released in Irish cinemas on 12 July 2013.
