Terrible news.
20-year old Wolfsburg midfielder Junior Malanda has died as a result of a car crash in Germany today, according to German newspaper Bild.
The paper reports that the Belgian midfielder was travelling in the back seat of an SUV which collided with a tree at high speed near Porta Westfalica in northern Germany at approximately 3.30pm this afternoon.
Malanda, who was scheduled to be flying to a training camp later this evening, is believed to have died immediately at the scene.
Malanda’s compatriot, Wolfsburg teammate and former Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, posted this tribute on Twitter this evening.
