She’s ethnic and she takes no sh*t.
While her character in Parks and Recreation may be a bit of a walkover, Rashida Jones proved to be anything but that at the Screen Actors Guild Awards this week.
Jones clearly shares our disdain for the kinds of vacuous red carper reporter whose first question is “Who are you wearing?” and when one of these reptilian specimens compliments her on her tan, she turns to them all withering and deadpan…
“I’m ethnic.”
Brilliant.

Jones has previously spoken about her mixed background, and challenging the media’s insistence on putting her into a single racial category.
“I’m lucky because I have so many clashing cultural, racial things going on: black, Jewish, Irish, Portuguese, Cherokee. I can float and be part of any community I want,” she said.
“The thing is, I do identify with being black, and if people don’t identify me that way that’s their issue. I’m happy to challenge people’s understanding of what it looks like to be biracial.”
