Glen Johnson’s on £90,000 a week? Really?
The wages earned by footballers is a source of fascination to all football fans.
It’s not only because they earn money that most of us can only dream of, but also because it makes for handy ammunition we can throw their way when we think they’re not doing the business.
It was with much interest then, that we looked upon a document published by The Sports Bible this morning, a document reportedly containing the wages that the Liverpool squad earn on a weekly basis.

In fairness, given the type of figures you hear bandied about, these figures look pretty accurate, even if we’re still pretty amazed at what the likes of Glen Johnson and Fabio Borini pull in every seven days.
The reason we’re a bit sceptical about the legitimacy of the figures is that a similar document appeared on a website called TSM Plug last August, where it was claimed that the figures were derived from trusted sources such as Guardian UK, FootballFrance and The Sunday Times.
While we’re not doubting the legitimacy of those sources, it does suggest that the figures were randomly collated as opposed to gathered from an official document that somehow made its way into the open.
Also, the name of Brendan Rodgers, the first on the list, is spelled wrong.
Makes for interesting reading all the same, we must admit.
