Vampire Weekend are back with their latest album Modern Vampires of the City, and seeing as it’s just being released today, so we had to feature it as our download of the day.

While many have tried to replicate their sound, their unique blend of electro, pop and indie shouldn’t really work on paper, but somehow does, which is why they have remained pretty much unique since their eponymous debut album thrust them into the spotlight in 2007.

You’ll probably have heard the ridiculously catchy ‘Diane Young’ on the radio by this stage, which definitely has a 1980s pop tune feel to it. You won’t have to work too hard to hear the influence of Paul Simon on this track either.

This album features a bit more of a mix of the eclectic sounds that have defined them so far, but all of them are so catchy that you’ll end up singing along to what is a very well-crafted album.

Not to mention, of course, these lads will be headlining at the Longitude festival in Marlay Park in July, so you’ve got time to learn all the lyrics from this album between now and then if you’re planning on going.
