This is superb.
Certain people have labelled JOE’s obsession with football as slightly unhealthy but these people just see ‘The Beautiful Game’ in its most simplistic terms.
Football is not just a bunch of men chasing a piece of leather around a field as Mrs Doyle from Father Ted would say and this statement is proven in this wonderful documentary.
JOE reader Danny Mills sent us in this video he made about two football supporters, Billy and Graham Heslip.
Billy has attended Crusaders matches his whole life, as has his son Graham, who has been blinded since birth.
Being a devoted father, Billy provides full match commentary for his son, whom he sits beside every week in the stands at Seaview.
This footage is testament to the incredible power that sport has because Graham doesn’t let his lack of vision limit his knowledge and understanding of the game and the team he supports.
It’s apparent that he loves Crusaders more than anyone else as seen by the fact that he can list off the names of the team from the mid-90s and describe the intricate details of the clubs fall and subsequent rise under Stephen Baxter.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a football/rugby/GAA/athletics or fan of any other sport because this is marvellous.
