The English Women’s team returned home from the World Cup in Canada today, following a fantastic showing in which they earned a third-place finish following a heartbreaking defeat to Japan in the semi-finals.
Mark Sampson’s side were the deserving recipients of plenty of acclaim for their performances in Canada, but the FA went the wrong way about trying to praise them for their efforts with a tweet sent out earlier today.
The tweet was hastily deleted after it was the subject of criticism on Twitter, but this being the Internet, somebody always manages to capture the evidence…
