Video: Irish teacher teaches a group of Taiwanese students to sing an amazing version of The Rattlin’ Bog

Wow

Conor Heneghan

And in that bog there was a tree…

There isn’t a town in Ireland that doesn’t have at least one person who can deliver a word-perfect version of ‘The Rattlin’ Bog’.

Everyone knows a few lines, but as the pace quickens and the attentions turns to branches, nests and fleas, most people are just happy to hum along until the chorus comes along again.

JOE reader Cathal O’hÁodhagáin is one of those people who has it down to a tee and he passed on that knowledge to a group of students from Taiwan who are going on a tour to Ireland soon and will sing the song in Trinity College.

Cathal obviously did a mighty job because the students’ version of it is quite something (your man on the Cajon is fairly talented) and it’s 1,000 times better than a version you’re likely to hear at an Irish house party on any given weekend.

Look out for these guys in Trinity when they do come over, they could teach some of us a thing or two, that’s for sure.

Fantastic work Cathal.
