Junior D selector makes 4962km round-trip from Rome to see GAA club final

Now this is dedication

Tony Cuddihy

From Rome with love.

Seneschalstown GFC selector was dismayed to discover he had booked a long weekend in Rome with his wife and friends of theirs on the same weekend that his club’s third team were playing in a Championship final in Navan – so he went to extraordinary lengths to see the game.

Leo son Stephen wrote to us to tell us how his father, having only arrived in Rome last Thursday, flew back to Ireland on Saturday morning, arrived back in Navan at 2.30pm and was in plenty of time for throw-in at 4pm.

Leo had never flown alone before and suffers from vertigo, but managed to make it back to see his other son Francis lift the trophy as captain. Seneschalstown won the match against Curraha 3-11 to 2-10.

With the cup safely in the cabinet, Leo then flew back to Rome on the Sunday morning to finish the last day of his holiday.

What an absolute champ of a man.
