It all worked out in the end.
We had a story on JOE yesterday about a guy in Dublin who was hopeful of making a club hurling game despite his wife being on the verge of giving birth to a new baby.
Setanta GAA club in Ballymun were down to play Erin’s Isle at 6:30pm and Darren Renehan’s wife was due to go into labour in the afternoon.
Despite that, Darren sent this message to the club WhatsApp group yesterday morning.
We’re happy to report that Mrs Renehan gave birth to a new baby boy at around lunchtime yesterday.
They’ve named him Luke and here’s a photo of Darren with his son and the new baby.
Darren actually ended up making the game as well, he played in goal for the first half and managed to keep a clean sheet.
Setanta switched goalkeepers at half time and ended up losing the game by just a point, Erin’s Isle won 4-14 to 3-16, it sounds like a cracker.
We’d like to pass on our congrats and commiserations to Darren. A gas man.
Cheers to Micka Kelly for sending this our way. If you have a photo, video or story you think we’d like, send it to us on Twitter, Facebook or email editorial@joe.ie.
