Whatever it takes

Shoulder to shoulder, preventing Ireland fan’s fall.

Thousands of Irish fans have made and will make the trip across the pond to follow the fortunes of Joe Schmidt’s side at the Rugby World Cup.

We’re not jealous… honest.

Some have had to beg, borrow and steal to get there and will do what they have to do to save a few cents so that they can extend their stay at the tournament as long as possible.

JOE reader Ryan Morgan sent us in a picture of the train from Cardiff to London following Ireland’s victory over Canada in the Welsh capital on Saturday and if you look closely enough you’ll see a man in an Irish jersey seemingly asleep in the overhead luggage compartment.

Ryan tells us that the man in question made his way onto a fairly packed train and remained in the luggage compartment for almost the entire journey.

As the train approached Paddington Station, he climbed down from the compartment and received a rapturous reception from all within the carriage, although Ryan suggested that he still might have been feeling the effects of a day’s celebrating at the time.

We’re sure he’s already reserved the same seat for the trip back to the Welsh capital for the France game next month.

Cheers to Ryan Morgan for sending this our way. If you have something you would like to share with us, send it to editorial@joe.ie or find us on Facebook or Twitter
