An absolutely staggering amount of people watched the Ireland v France match on TV3

There was no one at 6 O'Clock mass

There was no one at 6 O’Clock mass.

Yesterday was a grand day of sport, wasn’t it? I’d wager that there was a fair few foggy heads this morning though, especially since Ireland booked a quarter-final spot against Argentina after their emphatic 24-9 win against France in Cardiff.

While everyone probably wanted to get a ticket to the game, it seems that TV3 was the next most popular port of call for Irish rugby fans as seen by these staggering statistics.

The match against Les Bleus shattered their previous viewing record as 72% of all adults watching television tuned in to watch Joe Schmidt’s men beat France with viewing figures peaking at 1.42million.

The enthralling match reached a record breaking 1.6 million viewers in total and it also recorded an average of 1.15 million viewers. Overall, 1.69 million tuned in across pre-match, match and post-match analysis of Ireland v France on TV3.

All four quarter-finals will be broadcast by the station this weekend so the only question that you have to ask yourself is, where will you be watching the games from? Pub or home?
