PIC: GAA ref forgets cards, boots and jersey… match still goes ahead

Only in Ireland

Colm Boohig

This sounds like a lost episode of Father Ted.

Being a GAA referee can be stressful business, but it can be a whole lot harder when you forget to bring a few basic items with you.

UCD played DIT in a fresher Division 1 football match and everything seemed good to go… until the referee showed up with some news.

He left behind a few key items, so the players had to kindly donate a pair of boots and jacket.

Unfortunately, there were no spare cards going around.

He may have had no cards but the match went ahead, with UCD coming out on top 1-14 to 1-8.

Classic.
