32 Irish pubs have been named in the 2016 Michelin Guide for ‘Eating Out In Pubs’

Best in Ireland

Carl Kinsella

The highest honour.

Two pubs less than 100m apart, just outside of Dublin’s City Centre have been awarded a spot in next year’s Michelin Guide.

The Old Spot (which is, in fact, brand new and in its first year of business) and The Chop Shop have been listed as two of the best pubs for eating out in Ireland.

Co Down, however, is the place to be for gastropubbing. Six of its pubs have made the guidebook: Pheasant, Poacher’s Pocket, Plough Inn, Pier 36, Parson’s Nose and Balloo House.

There’s much fine dining to be found in Cork as well. The Rebel county boasts five entries: Mary Ann’s, Poacher’s Inn, Deasy’s, Cronin’s and Toddies at the Bulman.

Moran’s Oyster Cottage and O’Dowd’s of Galway also feature, as do The Tavern and Sheebeen of Co. Mayo.

Wexford’s Lobster Pot, Larkins of Tipperary, and Byrne & Woods of Wicklow all get a mention. Three Kildare pubs also made the list: Harte’s, Ballymore Inn and Fallon’s.

Clare was one of Ireland’s most successful counties with Morrissey’s, Vaughan’s Anchor Inn, Wild Honey Inn and Linnane’s Lobster Bar.
