PICS: How to delete your search history on Facebook

This could be very handy

Alan Loughnane

This could be very handy…

Some of you are probably aware that much like Google, Facebook keeps a record of all the things you type into their search bar.

So every time you type in JOE.ie into the Facebook search bar to keep up to date with the latest stories (which is every 20 minutes right?), Facebook takes a note of this and next time you type in the letter ‘J’, you will be recommended to visit that page.

This is all very well and good unless of course you’ve been searching for, say your ex, on Facebook and you don’t want her name popping up on your screen every time you put the letter ‘A’ or ‘E’ into the search field.

Another thing is, if one of your friends gets hold of your phone or laptop, they can easily check out who you’ve been looking up on Facebook and we can imagine that screenshots of the searches will be sent far and wide in WhatsApp groups… this has never happened to us we swear.

Firstly you just click on the Facebook search bar and a dropdown should appear with your recent searches as well as an option to edit. Click on the ‘Edit’.

Next a list of your searches will appear where you can bulk delete them all by clicking ‘Clear Searches’ or if you only wish to delete specific searches, you can do so by clicking the little circle across from your search.
