This isn’t what the GAA would have had in mind.
The hurlers of Dublin and Galway played out a novel hurling exhibition in the famous Fenway Park in Boston last night, taking part in an 11-a-side encounter designed to show hurling off to a wider audience.
Unfortunately, the game is likely to be remembered not for the skills on display but for a mass brawl that took place during the game, with several players involved in a coming together that got quite ugly at times.

Galway ended up winning the game and the exhibition was hailed by many as a success.
That said, even though some Americans got a kick out of the fighting on display, a lot of people closer to home were outraged that a game designed to showcase hurling to the wider world descended into violence.
No harm, but that carry on in Fenway was a fu#*ing embarrassment. Those lads should be ashamed of themselves. Exhibition? #FenwayHurling
