PIC: Students in Limerick construct the ultimate Christmas tree with 335 empty beer cans

Can you do better?

Conor Heneghan

A lot of hard work went into the making of this tree.

Collecting empty beer cans and using them to construct some form of household decoration has long been a tradition in college houses and one such house in Limerick has made it into an art form.

With just over a month to go until Christmas, a group of fellas in Limerick who didn’t want to be named, only referred to as ‘the boys in 85 Kilmurry’, gathered together all their empties to assemble a Christmas tree that Santa himself would be proud of.

We’re not sure how long it took the boys to assemble such a vast quantity of empty cans but they certainly like their variety, using cans of Canadian, Stella Artois, Galahad, Dutch Gold, Bavaria, Orchards Thieves, Miller, Tuborg and Devil’s Bit to make up the tree and a bottle of Hennessey to top it off.

We’re told it took two days to make and the boys are taking bookings for viewings; if you’ve seen anything like it or even better than it, feel free to send it our way on Facebook or Twitter or to editorial@JOE.ie.
