J-League

Ciaran Tracey’s Bacuna Mata-ta are in danger of running away with the J-League after extending their lead to over 70 points after another excellent outing in Gameweek 16.

Despite a relatively average score of 58 points last time out, Allan Johnson’s Comeback Kids are leading the chase in second place, one point ahead of Keith O’Brien’s Hon d’Cabayes in third.

Crabby Joe’s Spleef Queens are a further nine points back in fourth place, neck and neck with Kev Dunne’s Jedi Saber Knights on the same score in fifth.

Gameweek 17

It’s gonna be shootout time at Goodison Park tomorrow afternoon, where the three highest-scoring players in Fantasy Football go head to head as Everton host league leaders Leicester City.

Given the form they’re in and both sides’ carefree approach to defending (Leicester have conceded 22 goals in the league, Everton 21), it wouldn’t be a huge shock if Romelu Lukaku, Jamie Vardy and Riyadh Mahrez all gather some meaningful points in what should be a cracker on Merseyside.

Arsenal v Manchester City on Monday evening is the standout tie of the week on paper and while Chelsea v Sunderland and Manchester United v Norwich would have been home gimmes in previous campaigns, you simply can’t trust either side to deliver in their present state.

during the Barclays Premier League match between A.F.C. Bournemouth and Manchester United at Vitality Stadium on December 12, 2015 in Bournemouth, United Kingdom.

Ahead of their home meeting with Crystal Palace, meanwhile, it’s about time we paid tribute to a Stoke side that have kept seven clean sheets in their last nine league outings.

This week’s picks

Safe bet: Jack Butland (£5.0 million). The last man in a defence which, as mentioned above, has gone on a bit of a clean sheet spree in recent weeks.

Butland is now the highest-scoring goalkeeper in the league and has racked up maximum bonus points in three of the Potters’ last six matches.

during the Barclays Premier League match between Stoke City and Manchester City at Britannia Stadium on December 5, 2015 in Stoke on Trent, England.

Dark horse: Aaron Ramsey (£8.1 million). It would be stretching things to call a player of Ramsey’s quality a ‘dark horse’ but after a period on the sidelines, he’s returned with two goals, an assist and 24 points in his last two games.

Captain’s choice: Romelu Lukaku (£9.2 million). We make no apologies for recommending the big fella for the armband for the second week in a row.

Seven goals in his last six games is a record that speaks for itself and while Everton’s opponents this weekend, Leicester City, are top of the table for a reason, it’s not because they’re watertight at the back.

Potential to use chips

All-out attack for managers with Mahrez, Vardy and Lukaku in their teams perhaps?

Otherwise, we’d be inclined to agree with Johnny Depp…
