It’s suddenly become a superfood. Hurrah.
It’s not for everyone, but those who love their black pudding really love their black pudding and now it’s been designated a superfood.
Experts are saying it’s good for you, in other words.
Nobody really ever wants to know what’s in it, but for those that do it’s typically made up of pig’s blood, porridge, diced pork fat or beef suet, onion, milk, salt, and spices.
According to a report on Today FM, it ‘offers extremely high nutritional value, packed with protein, calcium , magnesium, potassium, iron and zinc. It’s also exceptionally low in carbohydrates.’
Not to mention it’s great with scallops or in a Spanish tapas dish with chickpeas.
“2015 saw healthy eating reach a new level and this year we predict this trend is only going to get bigger,” Darren Beale of MuscleFood.com told the Daily Mail.
“Some of the foods have been on the up for a while like avocado oil and maca root, but others like mushrooms and black pudding have been a total surprise to us.”
