Were you one of the lucky ones?
Thousands of Irish football fans anxiously opened their e-mail inboxes this morning as word arrived from UEFA to confirm whether their applications for tickets to Euro 2016 were successful or not.
On Friday, Irish supporters actually started to get excited that funds were being withdrawn from their bank accounts as it was a sign that their ticket applications had been successful and more celebrated the good news after receiving confirmation e-mails this morning.

On Friday, the FAI revealed that over 275,000 Irish supporters had applied for tickets for the Euros in the summer and given that the initial allocation for Group E games against Sweden, Belgium and Italy was just 26,000, there was always likely to be a large number of disappointed fans.
The FAI subsequently succeeded in increasing Ireland’s allocation to 33,334 and have given assurances that they will continue to seek out extra tickets which may be returned by UEFA allocations for each match.
Furthermore, the FAI also confirmed that an extra 2,000 tickets will be held in reserve for supporters who have a proven attendance record at Ireland matches and have missed out on tickets under the current process.
If you were one of the unlucky ones, don’t give up hope just yet.
