People are up in arms over Martin O’Neill’s comments about WAGs

Martin’s gotten himself into a bit of trouble here.

It was Twitter’s tenth birthday this week, and one of the thing that social media giant has allowed for is word to travel very quickly. Not only does news travels fast, but once outrage takes hold, it can multiply at an exponential rate.

Today, that ire is aimed at Ireland manager Martin O’Neill after he answered a question about the FAI’s policy on allowing the wives and girlfriends of players to be close to the training facilities and team hotel in France this summer.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Switzerland, O’Neill said:

“Well, it depends on how good looking the girls are. If they are really attractive, they’re very, very welcome. The uglier ones, I’m afraid not.”
