Survey reveals the average time that couples spend during sex

Paul Moore

If you last longer than 33 seconds then you’re doing better than some people.

Woody Allen once said that “having sex is like playing bridge. If you don’t have a good partner, you’d better have a good hand” and according to recent research by the University of Queensland, plenty of people must have very frustrating partners…and busy hands.

The study examined the sexcapades of 500 couples from all around the world over a four week period, asking them to use a stopwatch to time themselves doing the deed. That’s not creepy at all.

The research has just been posted and it appears that some couples subscribed to the ‘Lionel Richie – All Night Long’ school of thought by clocking in an impressive 44 minutes between the sheets while others, well, let’s just say that 33 seconds isn’t much to brag about it.

When it came to doing the no pants dance, the research found that the average time that couples spent having sex was 5.4 minutes and that older couples spent a shorter amount of time between the sheets.

There you have it, if you last longer than 324 seconds in bed then you’re better than most other people between the sheets. Congratulations.
