Buíochas le Dia! Irish festival Raveloid gets a reboot

JOE

Nuacht iontach.

The attempts to save the original Raveloid festival didn’t exactly work out, but the organisers have come up with an alternative idea to ensure that supporters of the event don’t miss out.

Raveloid sa Chathair’ will be three days of free music, comedy and workshops in Dublin between June 9 and 11.

Speaking to JOE, organiser Tomaí Ó Conghaile said that they were genuinely moved by the goodwill that was shown towards the event.

“So many people were excited about the festival, and a lot of work was put into it, so we didn’t want to let all of that energy go to waste.

“We’re very grateful to all the bands who have fully supported the concept of an Irish language summer festival and who helped us put together this new programme”.

“We mightn’t be camping this year but it’s looking like it’s still going to be an amazing weekend, and the first steps have definitely been taken towards a larger Irish language summer festival in the future.”

The concert taking place in the Sugar Club will feature acts such as Kíla and Seo Linn, but it’s only for those who bought a ticket to the original festival. If you happened to buy an original ticket, you’re being advised to keep a close eye on your email account.

Good news though for anyone that shares a passion in Irish language and culture, the rest of the events taking place over the course of the weekend will be open for everyone.
