Every Irish football fan is feeling gutted after a 3-0 loss to Belgium that could be called a spanking, at best.
A goal by Axel Witsel was bookended by strikes from Romelu Lukaku as the Red Devils put Ireland to the sword in a second half that made the boys in green look by far the weaker side.
Both sets of supporters got behind their players throughout the game and the Ireland fans were still in singing spirit as the game drew to a close.
It’s rare that the Ireland fans draw anything but praise for their conduct, and even though Roy Keane might not like us congratulating their commitment to supporting the players – it’s heartening to hear such a passionate rendition of Fields of Athenry, giving everyone at home something of a silver lining.

And in the end, Robbie Keane was the one to lead the team up to thank the fans for their unswerving support.
