It was a horrible second half, and one man in particular could empathise with the Ireland fans in Bordeaux.
Two goals from Romelu Lukaku and a header from Axel Witsel have Belgium a comfortable 3-0 win over a wretched Republic of Ireland in Bordeaux on Saturday.
Ireland were outclassed, particularly in the second half, with the likes of Ciarán Clark, James McCarthy and Glenn Whelan particularly culpable for a lack of concentration and failing to get a foothold on the game.
Robbie Keane came on as a late substitute and had no opportunity to restore a bit of pride for Ireland, but still led his team-mates to applaud the Irish fans after the game.
Ireland now move on to Italy next Wednesday, knowing that they’ll be coming home if they can’t secure a victory.
