Just about all of Argentina’s stars look set to retire from international football

Bit of political humour for you there. Now that that’s out of the way – a host of Argentina’s biggest superstars look set to follow Lionel Messi’s lead into international retirement.

Messi, who missed a penalty in Argentina’s ill-fated Copa America final shootout with Chile last night, has always had a queasy relationship with Argentina – a country he left at a young age in order to join Barcelona.

He announced his retirement from the international set-up immediately after last night’s final, and as the dust settles on Argentina’s fourth cup final loss in a row, it seems that many others are calling time on their international career.
