WATCH: Signs of the Times is a beautiful, eye-opening documentary about street sign holders in Dublin

Carl Kinsella

Signs of the Times.

There are many among us who fade in the background as we go about our daily lives. It is not often that we stop and think about the lives of the people we see holding street signs.

Signs of the Times, a six-minute documentary by Stephen Rogers offers a look into the lives of three street sign holders – Houston, Sandip and Felipe – who have come to Ireland from afar.

The trio discuss experiences they have had while standing on the street, how they find the Irish weather and how they view this particular moment in their lives.

It is a rare opportunity to glimpse inside the life of somebody else, and one that should not be missed. This film is well worth the six minutes it takes to watch it.

Speaking of the subjects, co-producer Brian Murphy said “We couldn’t have met three more genuine, lovely people. It was a pleasure to be able to learn about their backgrounds, what their plans for the future are and to get to know them.”

Murphy’s fellow producer Natasha Duffy added We want to tell the stories of all of the people that make up the fabric and DNA of Irish culture. We hope viewers feel enriched and uplifted hearing about these three peoples lives,” says Natasha Duffy co producer.
