Much as we love Martin O’Neill and his fearless assistant Dave, no Irish manager has quite had our heart since Mick McCarthy.
Not Brian Kerr. Not Stan. Not that Italian stereotype. We’re all about Mick, especially when he gives quotes like this about his own Ipswich Town supporters and the fairweather nature of being a football fan in general.
This on the day that his side held local rivals Norwich City to a 1-1 draw in the Championship.
