Infamous Mayo fan ‘Mayo Mick’ tells RTÉ that he can’t get a ticket to the All-Ireland Final

Remember this guy?

In fairness, how could you forget?

For those of you don’t know, Mick Barrett, AKA ‘Mayo Mick’ is the supporter who infamously invaded the pitch during the latter stages of Mayo’s defeat to Kerry in the 2014 All-Ireland semi-final in Limerick to express his frustration with referee Cormac Reilly.

It took five stewards and his own daughter to try and restrain him in the Gaelic Grounds, but he was eventually escorted off the pitch and earned a degree of notoriety afterwards.

Barrett was issued with a year’s ban from all GAA activities for his actions, a ban that expired just in time for Mayo’s All-Ireland semi-final replay against Dublin last year.

Barrett was at that game, but like many supporters, including Senator Michelle Mulherin, he’s been having trouble securing a ticket for this year’s decider.

On Friday afternoon, he told Philip Boucher-Hayes on Liveline on RTÉ Radio One about his desperation to secure a ticket, as well as recounting the events of that infamous day back in September 2014.

Other supporters whose quest for All-Ireland Final tickets has been so far unsuccessful also told their story.
