Joey Barton charged with breaking gambling rules after allegedly placing 44 bets

The bets were placed from 1 July to 15 September of this year.

Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has been charged with breaking rules relating to gambling on football matches.

The former Man City, QPR and Newcastle midfielder has been charged by the Scottish Football Association for allegedly placing 44 bets between 1 July and 15 September this year.

Barton is currently not involved with the Rangers first-team squad following an internal dispute that he had with manager Mark Warburton

Barton has until 12 October to respond to this charge from the SFA , with a hearing date set for 27 October.
