‘80s kids rejoice, Fraggle Rock is making a comeback

Conor Heneghan

Nostalgia overload.

The name won’t mean anything to Irish readers under the age of 25, but many of us grew up in an era when Fraggle Rock was a staple of our children’s TV diet.

The Jim Henson live-action puppet show aired on Irish screens during the ‘90s, when audiences warmed to the lives of the Fraggles, Doozers, Gorgs and Silly Creatures and one of the catchiest theme tunes you’re ever likely to hear.

Long after it last aired on TV, the Jim Henson Company have confirmed that Fraggle Rock will be making a comeback on HBO’s Internet TV network.

The show, which aired for 96 episodes, was broadcast in 98 countries and included 100 original songs, has been digitally remastered and will return to HBO before the end of this year.

One more time everybody: “Dance your cares away, worry’s for another day…”
