After an election campaign that has lasted almost two years and garnered innumerable column inches, November 8 is just two days away.
Soon America will decided whether to elect Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump as its president and hopefully the political landscape will look at least a little bit less messy (though we aren’t exactly counting on it).
Donald Trump has seen a late surge in his polling numbers, which has put his campaign in a better frame of mind than they were in this time last month when a video emerged of Trump privately claiming to have sexually assaulted women.
However, over the course of the election, Trump has also won himself some fierce critics who have pointed out that his policy proposals regarding banning Muslims from entering the USA, and physically deporting millions of Mexican immigrants, are authoritarian in nature.
In a similarly despotic vein, Trump has also threatened to lock up his political opponents and seemed to express admiration for world leaders to violently suppress the freedom of the press.
With that in mind, it appears the people of Germany have decided to throw a subtle little history lesson America’s way.
