In the annals of Irish footballing history, there are so many cult-heroes that have worn the famous green jersey.
Over the last two decades alone, we’ve all dreamed of a team of Gary Breen’s, worshiped at the altar of Zinedine Kilbane and genuinely believed that Gary ‘Ginger Pele’ Doherty is better than the actual Pele.
One man that you can add to this esteemed list is Clinton Morrison. In 36 appearances, Morrison scored nine goals for Ireland and established his cult-hero credentials with a string of committed and brave performances.
Now, we reckon that he’s still the most famous Clinton on the planet, but some politician named Hillary has been trying to edge out the former Crystal Palace, Birmingham and Coventry striker in the fame stakes.
Lucky for us, these Irish fans in Austria aren’t having any of that!
