WATCH: Saturday Night Live provided two remarkably powerful and moving pieces of TV

Paul Moore

Must watch.

It has been a very busy week around the world with the US presidential election taking centre stage, but the past seven days also saw the sad passing of Leonard Cohen, aged 82.

In a remarkably moving and emotional segment, Saturday Night Live star Kate McKinnion decided to open the show with a poignant cover of Cohen’s iconic song, Hallelujah.

Given that McKinnion has played Hillary Clinton during her skits on SNL, the Ghostbusters  star decided to provide her own artistic touch to two of the week’s biggest stories.

Take a look at her performance below, but it’s possible that Dave Chappelle’s closing monologue actually tops her stirring rendition.

In a passionate speech, Chappelle articulately discuses the issue of racism and how he’s willing to give Donald Trump a chance to prove his worth as president.

Here are Dave Chappelle’s closing thoughts.
