Acts of generosity are a welcome sight at all times, but particularly so in the run-up to Christmas, which can prove to be a tough time for some but also has a habit of bringing out the best in people.
An Irish worker in the US found that out first hand at the weekend, when he was left an enormous tip by a customer in the hope that it would contribute towards him being able to return home to Ireland on holidays.
The customer’s tip of $750 (approximately €707) on a bill of just $122.87, was originally spotted in a Facebook post by Taryn Keith, the girlfriend of the recipient of the tip, who said that the couple are hoping to return to Ireland once their baby, named Killian, is born so he can meet his Irish family.
On Monday, it was picked up by popular Facebook page Love What Matters and immediately went viral, having accumulated 96,000 likes and counting at the time of writing.
Fair play to the generous person in question, in 2016 of all years, it’s great to see that there are plenty of kind-hearted people still out there.
