Try not to giggle at the list of words that are considered too offensive for TV

Paul Moore

Filth. Ban them all. Don’t read this.

In what might be the greatest list of all time, Ofcom have released the words that they consider to be too offensive for TV. Won’t somebody please think of the children!

While the majority of these words are used on a routine basis, it’s interesting to see what the authorities deem to be too racy for the general public.

As you may know, it’s the BAI that regulate and govern Irish broadcasting, but we felt that any list that tries to define the seriousness of words like ‘clunge’, ‘twat’ and ‘beaver’ is worthy of your attention.

We’re also pleasantly surprised to see that a few of Ireland’s most beloved insults made the list. Great feckin’ day for the parish.

Here’s the list in full. Don’t forget to say to say ten Hail Marys after you’re done.
