Is this the way of the future?
Having taken most of 2016 off, Ed Sheeran is very much back at the front and centre of attention in the music world after dropping not one, but two new singles at 5am on Friday morning, fulfilling a promise made on New Year’s Day.
You can listen to the new songs, ‘Shape of You’ and ‘Castle on the Hill’ using the link below and though songs can often take a while to warm to, on first listen, Ed’s millions of fans will probably be pretty happy with the new material.

Ed dropped the new singles on Twitter at 5am, but being very much a musician of his generation, it was possible, as many discovered, for fans to get a sneak 30-second preview of ‘Shape of You’ on Snapchat last night.

While you can now listen to the song in its entirety following the links provided in Ed’s tweet above, you can still hear the preview on Snapchat using the filter of a smiley face wearing a pair of sunglasses; it should still be the first filter option when you go to take a selfie on the app.

Nearly 60,000 retweets for the new singles within two hours (in the middle of the night) and #WelcomeBackEd trending on Twitter, he’s back alright.
