The best possible draw?

Russia awaits the winners.

The Republic of Ireland will come up against Denmark in a two-legged play for a place in next summer’s World Cup Finals in Russia.

Following Tuesday’s draw in Zurich, Ireland avoided tricky ties against both Italy and Croatia and will travel to Copenhagen before a return leg in Dublin at the Aviva Stadium in November.

While the draw is arguably the best that Ireland could have hoped for, a clash with the Danes is anything but a formality.

Journalist Jonathan Wilson spoke to SportsJOE Live about the threat posed by Emil Forsberg, Christian Eriksen et al and warned Ireland against complacency.
